CNIC Internship Program

About the Program

As part of its commitment to training the next generation of cardiovascular researchers, the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research; CNIC) offers university students the opportunity to undertake internships in its research laboratories.

The program is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students and includes the following options:

  • Curricular and extracurricular internships
  • Bachelor's Degree Final Projects (TFG)
  • Master's Degree Final Projects (TFM)

Regulatory Framework

Under Spanish Royal Decree 592/2014, students may undertake internships at the CNIC only if an Educational Cooperation Agreement is in place, or can be established, between the CNIC and the university at which the applicant is enrolled. A corresponding internship agreement (annex) must also be signed.

For students enrolled at universities outside Spain, placements can be formalized through a specific agreement with the home institution or within the framework of academic mobility schemes such as Erasmus+ or other international exchange programs.

For students from private universities, the Educational Cooperation Agreement must include a specific financial contribution to cover the costs associated with training activities carried out in CNIC laboratories.

This contribution must be paid by the university and may not, under any circumstances, be charged directly to the student in addition to tuition fees.

The applicable fees are as follows:

  • Master's Degree Final Project (TFM): €7,000
  • Bachelor's Degree Final Project (TFG): €3,000
  • Other university internships (curricular or extracurricular): €1,000 per month

Please note that internships at the CNIC are unpaid.
